During the Second World War, the Royal Navy occupied several premises in the Brighton & Hove area. HMS King Alfred was located at Hove Marina, HMS Vernon was sited at the requisitioned Roedean School for Girls and HMS Lizard had various sites in Hove and Shoreham.
