Pensioner's tour

"My name is Jean Penney. I was born in Glasgow in 1920. I came to Brighton when I was about two years old. I left school in '38 and went to London during the war. When I came back after the war I worked for a few years for the Brighton publicity department. Then I got married and had a family and I still live in Brighton today.

I've taken these photographs because they're places around here that have interested me. I think they're of importance to the history of Brighton. I'm a member of the King's Cliff Conservation Society and they're all in that society. They're mainly east of the Palace Pier and I thought they may be of interest to other people in the town."

The Pensioner's Tour was created for the My Brighton museum exhibit, launched in 1995.
