Lone parents

By Christine Barlow

Welcome to my tour. As part of the Lesser Heard Voices Project I asked five lone parents to choose a place in Brighton or Hove that has special significance for them.

The interviews encapsulate the feelings and memories associated with a particular place. They also mention some of the difficulties encountered by lone parents: combining paid work with caring for children alone and the importance of good, affordable, convenient childcare.

But it is the beauty and accessibility of the natural and created environment that is most appreciated - as a still-free resource available to us all. Enjoy the tour.
