Slums

Slums were houses considered to be of inferior quality, with poor sanitation - well known slum areas of Brighton included Carlton Hill and Air Street. Slum clearance began in the late1800s and continued for the first part of the twentieth century, with occupants being rehoused in modern flats and houses.
