The pub, situated in Portland Road, was known in 1891 as "The Aldrington Hotel", although there were no guests on the night of the 1891 census.

The residents were listed as:

Ellen (24) daughter - barmaid - b. Brighton
Hale (22) daughter - barmaid - b. Brighton

Harry was Brighton born, his wife born in Henfield and the children born in Hove. The slogan at the time was 'THE FINEST BILLARD SALOON IN THE SOUTH'.

10 years later, my ancestor William James SLAUGHTER aged 41 was the Licenced Vitualler at The Aldrington Hotel. Also living at this address at 90 Portland Road was :

Reginald Lionel WEBBON (25) Barman
Bessie Harvey SANDS (21) General Servant Domestic
Florence STEEL (10) Visitor
Does anyone know who took the pub on after this ?
