Stained Glass Windows

The ‘orphan’ window

There have been discussions in my family about what happened to the stained glass windows from All Souls Church when it was demolished. Trevor Norkett said that one of the church stained glass windows had gone to Norwich Cathedral.

I was there a couple of weeks ago and spoke to the Dean and others. The Dean said there were two possibles that had come to Norwich from Chichester Diocese. But the most likely was a small round window in the south transept known locally as the orphan window. It is of Thomas.

Does anyone recognise this window as previously belonging to All Souls?

  • Hello Dennis. According to Malcolm Kemp on this website (under the page for All Souls), “The six Kempe windows have all been restored and are in the archives (and on the website) of the London stainded [sic] glass window repository in the basement of the Glaziers Hall near London Bridge.” Regards, Alan Hobden.
