You are quite right Alan, in the fifties and sixties it was a banana warehouse for Fifes bananas. I've heard tarantulas used to run about out of the imported banana bunches stored there.

I'm very grateful for this photographic record because, although it's only been a few years, I've already forgotten what the area looked like before redevelopment. Can't believe how quickly we get used to things!

If you walk along the Greenway from either New England Rd or from the Station carpark there are remnants of the works structures surviving including the little building in New England Rd which was, I believe, the clocking in office (one of three) for the loco works above.
