An act of kindness?

A strange sight

Visitors to Jubilee Square today were greeted with a very strange site. Brighton’s busiest square was transformed into a home in an attempt to get local people thinking about the plight of homeless people in the UK. Local homelessness charity, Emmaus Brighton & Hove, set up a living room and bedroom in the square, and asked passers-by to stop and think about what it would be like to have to live on the streets.

Commit to an act of kindness

The event marked the 60th anniversary of the founding of the Emmaus charity, and the community used their event to ask people from across the city to pledge to commit to an act of kindness, by helping those in greater need than themselves. This kindness could be shown in many ways like giving tins or packets of food for local food banks, donating unwanted items to the Emmaus shop, or the donation of warm clothes or sleeping bags for local night shelters.
