Edward Street
John Oliver Prince Dining Room
By Valerie Piekarski
This photograph was taken in the rear garden at 89 Edward Street, which was apparently known as 'John Oliver Prince's Dining Room'.
I had always heard it referred to as a 'Tea Shop'. The distinctive wall still exists today although the building was demolished years ago.
The Prince family owned the establishment until some time after WWII. Most likely the photograph was taken in the late 1920's or early 1930's.
