My family moved to 1 Claremont Row from Argyle Road in 1948; at the time I was three years old and my brother was one year old. When we were old enough my brother and I both attended Richmond Street School.

The photograph here shows my class in 1950. I am second from the right on the front row.

  • Hello Trevor, I remember your family well as you lived in the top end prefab opposite the Ebenezer church, we Wells’s lived in Cambridge Street. As for others in the photo 2 along an your right is Paul Scoley, behind you is David Paterson, 2nd row 2nd left is Ray Grant, Cedric Newland, David Streeter, 3rd row 2nd right is Ron Lewes, I think the tall girl, top row (long hair) is Jenifer Simmonds, 3rd left is Alan Pumphrey and top 1st left is yours truly.

I’d love to hear from anyone of you even those of you I failed to recognise!

I can be contacted by emailing me at geoffrey.wells1@gmail.com

As for me they were happy days, nice teachers all nice class friends and at that age not a care in the world.
