Class photograph c1952/3

This was my first year at St Margaret’s School, so I think that makes it the academic year 1952/3 with Mr Mason, headmaster, and Miss Prescott.

I am centre row, third from left. My friend Susan Moore is in the centre of the front row.

Did you attend St Margaret’s? Do you recognise yourself or anyone else? If you can share your memories with us, please leave a comment below.

  • I have copies of all the St Margaret’s classes in a cardboard box at home. I also have other photos of Diane and me. I remember Diane’s mother and father and their cafe in West Street. We were good friends at St Margaret’s. Diane went up to Varndean the year before me because her birthday was in August and being in different years at school we made new friends.

  • Hi, could Susan Moore contact me? I went to St Margaret’s, I think sometime after 1948, it would be so good to see myself in the school photos as I do not have any childhood photos. My name is Alan Taylor b1942. I cannot be specific about the date as I was taken  out from another school and sent to St Margaret’s because I   think my parents thought I would be able to cope better.

    Regards Alan, Adelaide South Aust.

  • I am Victoria Hardy front row 2nd from left and I was friends with Holly Reddington, back Row 1st on right. I’ve known Michael Lovegrove (middle row, 7th from left in snazzy shirt!) as an adult for 30 years and never realised we had been to the same school!

  • I have visited this excellent site whilst gleaning information for my brother’s 70th birthday. He is Christopher Glenn Matthews and is standing in the middle row, fourth from the right. I too attended the school a few years later and we both have fond and detailed memories of Brighton, Regency Square, Preston Street, West Pier and the seafront! What a playground! Best wishes and a Happy 70th to you all!
