Memorial Regency Square

A picture from the early 1900’s taken at the memorial in Regency Square. The memorial is dedicated to The Royal Sussex Regiment  who died in the Boer War.

The picture belonged to John Heryet who was the coachman to the Rev Arthur Douglas Wagner.

  • My great uncle was killed while serving with the Royal Sussex Regiment during the Boer War and his name appears on this monument. He was killed at Abrahams Kraal, SA and I still have the original hand written letter sent to my great grandmother from his commanding officer. His name was Private R. Pimm.
