Tates of Portslade bought 31 Old Shoreham Road, not sure when, but he converted in into two flats. Janet and Tony Frost lived downstairs and my husband and I lived upstairs, until it was demolished. The road widening scheme stopped short of 31 (next door neighbours were rehoused by the council) but John Tate demolished it to make way for his new forecourt. He moved us to Church Road opposite another of his garages.

Would love to know who is in the wedding picture of my grandma, and of the Carlisle Laundry staff picture. On that, standing row - far right is Norman Percy Finch, middle seated his wife Isabella Caroline, and far right my grandma Dora Elizabeth Kate Ethel; bottom seated row has centrally her sister Sybil Isabel. The two lads at the front are clearly related, almost certainly brothers, so almost certainly rule out the only Finch son, Frank. In the middle of the standing five is someone from the Savage family, but I'm not clear who she is, perhaps Caroline the mother of Elsie who married Frank Finch. Dating? Dora was born in 1905, Sybil 1907; they are both in their early teens I think, so perhaps just after WW1?
