My best mate was Ray Brett from Coldean estate, my nickname was Dick; we were messengers from early 1954 to early 1958 when we were called up for national service. Mr. Chubb was our assistant inspector and Bruce Guy was our booking out PHG along with Mr.Moody. The photograph above was taken outside The Level, it was the 1954/55 outing for the Brighton Messengers. Mr Chubb is in the centre and I am to his left.
After leaving the RAF, I was a telegraphist at Brighton, and then later a P&TO at Bletchley. I would love to contact any of the old guys who are still around. You can email me at raystoner@btinternet.com. If you have any memories you would like to share, please leave a comment below.
