This was a general store and sweet shop which was run by three spinster sisters; Flo, Ada and May Butt.
The ladies lived behind and above the shop. The photo was taken in 1956.
Can you remember this shop? Or can you share any memories of this time? If you can help, please leave a comment below.

‘No Butt, No Butt, No Butt………!” Sorry–I just couldn’t myself!
This is the very shop I remember so well, many thanks for the posting Judy.
I’m afraid I don’t remember this sweet shop, although I am sure I probably visited it when I was at Ellen Street. I do, however, remember the school dentist in Shirley Street, I am sure the Butt sisters helped keep him in business.
I lived next door to the Dougherty’s who were at No.79. Sorry, they were the only ‘sweet shop’ in the street that I can remember; in fact they were grocery shop really. My mother, Doris, who has lived in the street since 1961, does not recall the store or any of the sisters either. Again, sorry that I could not be of any further help.
