That’s me in the 2nd photo, 3rd from the right as you look at it. Notice how the teachers all look happy, then look at the miserable pupils! Happy days.
In one of my previous observations on the letters page, on the school cricket team, I inadvertently mentioned that it was Mr Bastock senior that died before the school moved to Paxhill Park, it was in actual fact, Mrs Bastock senior that died before the move. Sorry for any confusion on my part to Leslie Baines.

What a surprise to see a page dedicated to the pupils of Preston College. In the photo I am in the back row (fourth on the right) next to my friend Tony Leppard (third from the right).
Unfortunately for me my granddad was also Mr Barnwell who passed on in 1996 at the age of 97.
I am the 4th one from the left of the senior girls and I believe that is Florence Adams next to me. Mrs Bastock scolded me for “having my legs crossed ” but I see I wasn’t the only one! What fun to see these faces again after all this time. That is Aileen Nurse on the floor isn’t it?
Hadn’t seen this photo before. I’m in the second photo on the top row immediately behind Major Bastock. Next but one to the left of me as I face the camera was my best friend John Burley who later was my best man at my wedding. We met a couple of times later in life whilst I was stationed in Mons, Belgium when John was working in Bruxelles. I have not seen him since nor have I seen any of my fellow pupils since leaving in 1962 to join the Army. Brings back memories!
First photo, middle row, numbers 9 and 10 from the left, are brothers Tony and Michael Kelman. There was another brother, Robert, who was younger, but maybe he hadn’t joined them in 1961.
Since posting above, I have my doubts about the ‘brother’ on the left of the two. It is definitely Mike Kelman on the right though, and Tony and Bob were there, but not on that day it seems. I found all three of them on a photo from 1962 on a different website.
Hi Mick, time really does pass. Off you went to the army in ’62 and I was gone in ’63. Saw Martin Drain once, but that was it. Never saw anybody again.
Are there any more updates regarding Miss Martin?

Hi Leslie, yes I joined REME in 62 and left in 87 as WO1. Had a great career then ended up managing the epartment motor vehicle engineering in Northbrook College before taking early retirement to enjoy life. Did you join the Army as well?
