The gasholder, built in 1877, that used to stand to the west of Andrew's Old Church in Church Road, Hove. It was the first tank to be constructed of large concrete blocks set in cement to form a perfect circle.
Why, oh why, didn’t Tesco include the gasholder in its design? This could have been made into offices or a cafe or flats etc. Why, oh why, was the wall knocked down and the houses removed?! Why didn’t Tesco set the whole supermarket back to keep the local history in place? Oh well, enough said!

Andrew, Tesco are only interested in one thing that is making money and expanding their empire. Did you know that their business started in a small shop in London Road between the market and St Peter’s Church.
