Groynes at low tide

Groynes along Hove seafront

A friend of mine took pictures of ‘a walk along the seaside in Brighton and Hove’. I was impressed.

The pictures included the old railings at Hove’s seafront painted in green with silver handrails, and the groynes exposed to the sun at low tide. The green painted railings and the fantastic ‘wave breakers’ are part of our seafront. Without them, our promenade would look different and the sea would have taken more land away!

My name is Karin Dahmen. I spent my childhood in North Germany and at weekends we rushed to the seaside. I spent 28 great years in London, but it was time to move on. Five years ago I arrived in Brighton. I love the sea.
