This building contained the old Hove Fire Station. The two arched doors on the right were the appliance garages. My dad was a fireman and as a child I lived in a flat at the back of the fire station yard behind the station here until October 1970 when we moved to Uckfield for dad’s promotion. I attended Connaught Road Infants, then Goldstone Junior and Davigdor Sec Mod School for Girls. Does anyone remember me?
Most of the building featured was in fact used by South Eastern Electricity Board as a billing office before they moved to Worthing and latterly as the legal and management services unit. I worked there in the 1960s and had great fun with the lively bunch that were there and dominated The Connaught over the road at lunchtimes.
