  • I lived in Patcham in the 1940s when I was a young child. Sometimes my grandparents from London used to come down and take me out. They used to like to have a drink and my mother made them promise never to go into a pub when I was with them. They didn’t keep their promise though and, one day while they were in ‘The Ladies Mile,’ I fell from the low wall which used to run along on the outside and cut my knee rather badly. So the whole story came out.

  • The Ladies Mile was my drinking hole from 1982 to 2002.  Great people, smashing staff, shame they stopped fodder after some time when Mags and her husband ran it.  Still far too expensive, but I’m sure that the likes of Ray Dancey and his sons subsidise it. I used to work there under management of Dave Day’s mate, Malcom. I do miss it but, hey, that’s the way the cookie crumbles.

  • I spent many happy hours here as a child attending an English summer course in July 1974. We were hosted in a hall to the right side of the pub. Cheerio from Italy, dear old Patcham!

  • I used to live on Sanyhils Avenue. just up from the pub. I used to walk past it on the way to school just up the hill on Ladie’s Mile Road. This was in the early 60’s. Around 1963 to 1967.

  • I lived in Patcham (Wilmington Way) from 1963 – 1972. Although I have to say Patcham wasn’t exactly a night spot for teens, The Ladies Mile was our regular watering hole (when we were old enough of course!), even though the Wilmington was closer- it just didn’t have the same atmosphere. My husband and I married at All Saints church and my mother arranged to have the groomsmens buttonholes delivered to the pub! Hows that for foresight!

  • I used to deliver papers from Salmons. My round was Ladies Mile Road, Vale Avenue, Braeside, Mackie Avenue and all the avenues off it (today’s paper boys / girls don’t know they’re born, I could barely carry my bag on a Thursday evening). My last paper was delivered to The Ladies Mile Pub and Mr Attwater, the landlord, used to give me a huge bar of Cadburys Dairy Milk chocolate every Friday evening. Sadly for me, I didn’t like milk chocolate so I always gave it to my parents.

  • I lived in Highfield Crescent then Westfield Crescent. My boyfriend lived in Overhill Drive. I remember The Ladies Mile as I had my 21st Birthday Party there in 1963.
