I remember this pub very well. In my opinion, it was one of the most characterful of all the Brighton pubs. Not only was it clearly charming in a kind of Dickensian way, the people behind the place were really interesting. I worked for the summer of ’75 at the Star and Garter, also known as Dr. Brighton, and lived in. The Cricketers was one of my many locals! A popular film at the time was The Killing of Sister George, the Cricketers was the real deal!

I remember the Cricketers in the early 1970’s, and revisiting in 2005. Now I live in Melbourne but have connections with Brighton – see YMCA- Lewes Rd.
