  • Never my local but I used it during the summer if I was in the area. This pub was a sort of gateway to the rather bohemian area stretching south from Western Road to the seafront. One interesting feature – clearly shown in the 1970s photograph and one that I remember always made this pub unusual at the time – was that drinking outside ( even on nasty plastic chairs ) was normal in the summer long before this became more or less standard in Brighton.
