Old Police Cells Museum

The Old Police Cells Museum is dedicated to charting the history of policing in Brighton from the first days of the force in 1812. It is housed in the basement of Brighton Town Hall, where the old police cells used to be. This is an interesting and free glimpse into the past which is well worth a visit.

This season the museum is open from 3rd April to the end of October. It will be open on Tuesdays through to Saturdays inclusive each week at 10.30am. Pre book your tour by phoning 01273 291052. Group bookings available at other times by prior request. We now have 12 cells open to the public, unique artifacts on display and a history dating from 1830 through the murder of our first Chief Constable in his office, to the mods and rockers era up to the present day.
