  • I was at this school later in the 1950s and remember it well. At the time I was known as Edward Castle. Does anyone else their during this time remember me?

  • I am sitting on floor right hand side.
Second row down, second boy in on the right is Malcolm Ford. Same row, second on left is Roger Askel. Next to him on his right is David Easterbrook. I left I think in 1956.

  • I am in the top row on the right. I knew David Terry very well as we both lived in Blucher Place on the carpark. I lived at no 18 and David at no 5. I believe Trevor Furlonger was also in the class. I was in the cubs and scouts under Father Chowns leadership. Happy days indeed.

  • Hello Pete, nice to hear you are on the net.

  • Wow – my old school – I remember going there when I was young! Oh, the old memories!

  • Although not an old boy of St Paul’s School a couple of names have hit the memory banks. Trevor Furlonger was at Fawcett School with me and I also knew him as a brother scout from my days of scouting in Brighton. The name Peter Maurice rings a bell. If you had a brother by the name of Johnny Maurice he was at Fawcett School with me in the mid 50s.

  • My brother was Johnny Maurice who went to Fawcett School in York Place. He was three years older than me and loved his football. One of his best mates was Bill Glazier who was Coventry City’s goalie. John moved to London and was Mayor of Southwark in 1990/1. He died of a heart attack three weeks after leaving office. A street was named after him off the Old Kent Road.

  • My stepfather Mr Bangay was a teacher at this school I think, before or about the time of the photo. Unfortunatley he died in a car accident in 1961.

  • Does anyone remember a Susan Gale that went to the school during the fifties. For some reason i have always remembered her, possibly because even as a child, I recall she had beautiful fair hair that must have struck me even then. I have heard that in adult life she became a hairdresser.

  • I was at St.Pauls’ from 1950-60. One of my teachers was Mr. Bangay – I can still see him in front of me, such a shame that he died so early. I definitely know most faces in this pic but names? Back row could be Bertie Lister next to Trevor & front row, 4th from left, Catherine Selmes (?)! Miss Hook was our Headmistress at the time. I have several school photos from this time.

  • I and my brother John went here as well, then on to Fawcett. We lived in Clarence Square. We also were in the 11th Brighton Scouts there too. I would only have been there in or around 52/53/54, and again briefly in 59. I was sent to a boarding school for 4 years from aged 6 to 10 due to illness.

  • My dad was David Eastabrook (I’m 14) which has been spelt wrong in you comment above. He had recently died in February 2014. He used to talk about all of you so much while eating dinner. Great to see this photo of you all in infant school.

  • I was at the school for a short while around that time and I think (but not sure as I have no photos of myself at that age) that I am the girl on the far left of the front row. I remember I had a friend called Charlie. Wonder if he is in the photo?

  • I would like to know if this photo is of St Paul’s or Fawcett? Someone has stated it’s not St Paul’s but people are still replying regarding it as St Paul’s?

    By Jozef Kis (07/10/2016)
  • It is definitely St Pauls,I was there until 1957,until passing the eleven plus and going to Varndean Grammar School.I have only good memories of the school.I have still got all my school reports from 1952-1957.My class teachers were G.M.Jones 1951-1953.L Murray White 1956 and M Fulker 1957.`
