How things must have changed! My parents were married in the Chapel Royal on Boxing Day 1936; they were neither prominent nor wealthy. They both worked for the Co-op in London Road. In fact - they could not even afford a photographer!

I got married here 25 April 1970 when the Reverend Webb was vicar. I was also a bridesmaid before that to his daughter, Gilly, when she got married here. I remember that on both occasions lots of people stopped and looked as the church is in a busy shopping street.
