The War Memorial, designed by Sir John Simpson, records the names of 2,597 men and three women of Brighton who fell in the First World War.
On Thursday 8th November 2007 a service of blessing was attended by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove, Councillor Mrs Carol Theobald. This service was one of many which will be held this week to pay respects to the war dead of all conflicts.
