Brighton and Hove Cricket Club

Brighton & Hove Cricket Club were invited by the Mayor, Councillor Carol Theobald, to join her and consort Councillor Geoffrey Theobald OBE, in the Mayor’s Parlour at the Town Hall this week, to celebrate the success of the club last season .

This season’s successes
The club has an impressive list of successes this season. The Men’s 1st XI is the Sussex Premier League Champions; Men’s 2nd XI was second in the Sussex 2nd XI League; Men’s 3rd XI won the Sussex 3rd. XI League; Men’s 4th XI won the West Sussex League; Under 16s and 11s both won their evening leagues. The Under 12s and 11s won their groups in the Sussex Junior Festival; the Under 15s girls won the regional Lady Taverners competition.

Guinness Book of Records?
In addition five of the ladies from the women’s section have been selected for the England squad to tour Australia and New Zealand. This must be one for the Guinness Book of Records for five players from one club to represent an England side. They will of course be defending the Ashes which they won 3 years ago at the same time as the England men who gave them back so pitifully last year!!!

Brighton & Hove CC is the only men’s Premier League and National League clubs in the City of Brighton & Hove and it also runs boys and girls youth sections of over 160.

  • I remember playing with Bob at the time he had trials with Middlesex CCC the list of ex-professionals and professional players still playing is astonishing and a credit from the time at Patcham to now in Hove where the colts teams, young cricketers , representative players highlight the city so well, the list is endless from captains of the England Team to players like Kepler Vessels, fantastic memories but better still a brilliant club.
