B. Cooke, 6 The Broadway

This wasn’t a second hand shop but an independent situated just off the Whitehawk Road circa 1972/1973.
I used to live within walking distance and so visited it a few times to buy some LPs but, as I was usually the only customer, I could see it wasn’t going to last long. It didn’t.

I am from Whitehawk as well. I only vaguely recall this shop. It may have been the one I went to in order to pre-order the Rolling Stones ‘I Know It’s Only Rock ‘n’ Roll..’ 45 after having seen them peform it on the Old Grey Whistle Test the night before (where Charlie Watts got buried in bubbles!). Likewise Queen’s debut 45 ‘Keep Yourself Alive’.
