These photos are from the Salvation Army Christmas Carols at The Citadel in Conway Street Hove, which was attended by the Mayor of Brighton and Hove Councillor Garry Peltzer Dunn.
The Citadel was the army’s first branch in the area was established in about 1880 at Conway Street , Hove, after General Booth’s first visit in 1879.

Back in the 50s my grandmother said to me.
“Never, ever go past a Salvo without putting something in the box. Even if you only have two coppers to rub together, put one in the box” Good advice.
