SRN's Association Reunion May 2009

On the 9th May 2009 a reunion was held at which thirty-nine State Registered Nurses who trained at the Brighton General met up at the East Brighton Golf Club for their bi-annual  reunion. In the past nurses spent three years up to State Registration, and those with us on the day covered the period from the  early 50’s up to the 70’s.

Some nine of them had not been to a reunion before and met up with friends that had not seen for over 50 years. Training took place at one hospital and this established a strong feeling of pride in your training school and close friendships developed, you never forgot those in your ‘set’.

The Brighton General SRNs’ Association has a web site with many photographs and more information it is: www.communigate.co.uk/sussex/brightongeneralsrn

  • I have tried the link to the communicate website and it does not work. [I have also tried the link which is invalid. I suspect it is communicate, not communigate – but that still doesn’t work. I have had a good look on the internet to see if I could find the group by other means (Facebook etc) but apart from a couple of YouTube videos, I am afraid I have drawn a blank. So sorry not to be able to help with your query. Editing team]

  • I trained at BGH from 1970 to 1973 then staffed on D2 for a couple of years …I’d love to attend a reunion if they still exist?
