I visited the railway today and was lucky to talk to a gentleman called Gerry who remembered my grandad Guy, he identified the men with him as Alan and Arthur and knew who designed and built the trains, this one being ‘twin sisters’. He also identied other train pictures and where they are now. It was a lovely day out and fatastic that someone can remeber working with my gt grandad that many years ago.
I remember Mr Edwards (Guy) very well as I worked with him as a Junior Draughtsman at Allen West in the 1950s. He was a really nice chap, one who was willing to give advice & help anytime requested. He once said his name Guy was because his birthday was around November the 5th. Desmond
Guy Edwards was one of the leading lights at the Allen West Model Association where he was a great friend of my grandfather Mr Stanley Foulkes, who built a railway round one of his bedrooms, a full size model of a Lee Enfield 303 rifle and a model harbour. All exhibited at the Allen West annual exhibition with help from Guy Edwards. (He built the model ship in the Ship Hotel next door too.)
